A Bit About Me
My name is Samantha, but my friends call me Sam. I was born June 5, 1993, in the Manhattan New York. My dad, Edwin Olivo, was born and raised in N. Y. like me, though he’s Puerto Rican, but my mother Stella O. Pelaez, is from Colombia. I have an older brother called Sebastian, a younger sister called Sabrina and a Hawaiian older half-sister called Ashly. I lived there till I was 12 years old.
Growing up in the city led me to a lot of opportunities. As a young girl my mom made it possible for me to be in as many activities that I could. I went to Anna Silverstein School of Arts and in the afternoon I would take acting classes in Henry Street Settlement. I was also in the Lower East Side Girls Club, where I did many activities like learning to play the drums and did some dancing. After a couple of those classes I started taking ballet lessons in Broadway. You can say I had a pretty good life as a child.
One thing that had a great impact in my life was witnessing the horrible catastrophe of 911. I thank God that my family got home safe the day of the incident.
Two years later my parents decided to move the family to Puerto Rico. We started off living in San Juan, but then there was a drastic change and we were located in Camuy. For me this was really hard at first because I had to learn how to speak Spanish while trying to adapt to the rural area. I learned to appreciate more nature and began to love the tranquility of it all. With the years I felt I needed that sense of activity I felt missing in my life and I began to take classes in Bellas artes and La Libre de Musica in Arecibo. Now I’m currently studying Audiovisual Communications in the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus and have a second mayor in Drama.
Facts:
1. I’m a movie freak.
2. Likes anything Blue
3. Loves Pasta
